SAND STACK (2019)

TWO VIOLINS + LOOP PEDALS

SAND STACK was written for the Colibri Duo (Michele Walther and Monika Gruber) in March 2019. It utilizes loop pedals that are attached to the violins. While playing on the beach with my daughters the building up of sand castles was very orderly, while the collapsing was free and loose. When writing "sand stack" during an extended weekend at a beach in California, I took the strict patterns up and free patterns down very literally.
